Podcasting at Spotify

Spotify changed the way the world discovers, shares and listens to music. And now, a decade after our 2008 launch, we’ve set our sights on the world of audio beyond music, especially podcasts. Spotify is the most popular global audio streaming subscription service and everything that we do at Spotify is driven by our passion for connecting audiences with their next favorite artist or creator.

Spotify’s mission is to unlock the potential of human creativity by providing a million creators the opportunity to live off their art, and billions of fans around the world the opportunity to enjoy and be inspired by these artists. Just as we have done with music, we are focused on podcast discovery, curation and customization that users expect from Spotify. And in addition to changing the way you discover or listen to podcasts, we are also focused on creating the best podcast content around the world.

Spotify Studios

The collective group that produces Spotify’s original podcast content, handles partnerships and manages the podcast content catalog.

Our founder and CEO, Daniel Ek went public with Spotify’s audio-first plans in early 2019.  Spotify’s early steps included the acquisition of two of the most respected podcast creation and production companies: Anchor and Gimlet. Anchor, the leading all-in-one podcast creation and hosting solution, and Gimlet, the premier narrative podcast studio, were essential in accelerating our audio-first strategy. Since those acquisitions, we have grown and acquired more podcast outfits, including Parcast and The Ringer.

We are a purpose-driven company, using our strong values and beliefs to guide us in our strategies as well as our everyday decisions. When you become part of Spotify we rely on you to bring our values to life in real time. These principles guide each decision we make, serving as the path we’ll follow to achieve our goals and mission. We are innovative, sincere, passionate, collaborative, and a bit playful.

Commitment to Diversity
Our platform is for everyone and so is our workplace. The more voices we have represented and amplified in our business, the more we will all thrive, contribute, and be brilliant. We strongly believe that a diversity of experience, perspectives, and backgrounds will lead to a better environment for our employees and a better product for our users and creators. So bring us your personal experience, your perspectives, and your background. It’s in our differences that we will find the power to keep revolutionizing the way the world listens.

Listening is everything

It’s never been more important, or exciting, to tune in to what’s happening in the world and how we discover our potential in it. Simply put, listening is everything. We pioneered audio streaming and we have no intention of slowing down now. If you want to work in music and podcasts, sure, there are other places you can go. But if you want to be at the forefront of the industry, if you want to help develop and lead its future, then Spotify is where you need to be.
